Sometimes described as ‘acupuncture for facial rejuvenation’ or simply ‘facial rejuvenation’, this is a specialist field of acupuncture (and by default, part of the therapies of Traditional Chinese Medicine – TCM) that focuses specifically on cosmetic aspects of the person offering a non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the ageing process with the added benefit of improving general health and well being at the same time.
This is therefore fundamentally different from other cosmetic treatments, because acupuncture treats holistically – not only treating the signs of aging on your face, but also providing a rejuvenation of your general health.
A full cosmetic acupuncture treatment involves different aspects of TCM like acupuncture, tuina massage, Chinese herbal medicine and dietary therapy.
Being part of TCM means that you can avail of the safety of its efficacy and solid foundations of thousands of years – also, it is always important to remember that being a comprehensive medical system, when you choose to take a cosmetic acupuncture treatment you will be diagnosed according to the principles of TCM.
This means that cosmetic acupuncture for facial rejuvenation can offer you a safe and effective alternative to botox, collagen injections or even cosmetic surgery at a fraction of the price of those procedures.

How many treatments does it take to notice the improvement?
At the end of the first treatment, most people start to notice the improvement on their facial complexion – the firmness of the skin, the improvement on the muscle tone and the brightness of the eyes.
Obviously, results depend on the individual condition of the person – sometimes, it might take a few treatments before results start to be more noticeable.
To achieve visible and long lasting results, it is recommended that you take on the full cosmetic acupuncture treatment package, which is comprised of 12 weekly sessions. The treatment is offered as a package at a special price or as individual sessions at a normal rate.
Please remember that different individuals will react differently to the treatments and the results also vary from person to person – after the 12 weekly sessions you can get lasting results for about 3 to 4 years.
After you finish the treatment, it is recommend that you take on the advice of your practitioner and pay special attention to simple things like: lifestyle (smoking, drinking, etc), diet, sleep, reduce makeup, exercise/massage your face regularly – and if convenient to you, do 1 or 2 individual sessions per year to keep the good results lasting for even longer.
Why choose acupuncture for facial rejuvenation over cosmetic surgery?
While this treatment is not claiming to be a replacement for surgery, cosmetic acupuncture for facial rejuvenation is an excellent alternative to surgery itself for a number of reasons:
– It is far less costly than cosmetic surgery;
– In the hands of a fully qualified TCM practitioner, it is completely safe;
– It is virtually painless and has no side effects or risk of disfigurement;
– There is no trauma from facial rejuvenation acupuncture – sometimes, cosmetic surgery may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discolouration;
While cosmetic acupuncture cannot reshape one’s chin or nose, it is a more subtle rejuvenation that takes years off ones’ face in a safe and natural way whilst simultaneously improving your overall health – remember: “Beauty comes from within” so the healthier you gradually get as your treatments progress, the better you feel and consequently the better you will look too.
Contraindications
Nevertheless, facial rejuvenation acupuncture is contraindicated for some pituitary disorders, heart disorders, diabetes mellitus, and high blood pressure, people who have a problem with bleeding or bruising or who have a pacemaker or people who currently suffer from migraines.
It is not suitable for pregnant women or during a bout of colds or flu or an allergic attack or during an acute herpes outbreak.
